Big blue eyes :)

This little guy’s session fell on a chilly day and he wasn’t too sure about having his picture taken. He really made us work for his smiles but it was worth it. Such a cutie and so expressive!

2. Christian is loving his Santa gifts – he goes back and forth between the train table and drums all day 🙂 only downside is he keeps asking for “more choo choos”
3. Finally took the little guy for a haircut today after saying I needed to for a few weeks 😛

Valentine Minis!!

Had a few requests for Valentine minis and since I’ve had a bit of time to recover from holiday minis I decided to do a half day 🙂 I will have some fun props – you can choose to use them or not 🙂

It’s snowing!

I told myself I wasn’t going to post any shoots that were super Christmasy just because I’m ready to move on from the holiday season but I was cleaning out my harddrive and came across these and decided they were too cute not to share! I met up with this cutie and her mama who is a photographer and friend of mine to help her with her pinterest inspired holiday card – I wasn’t there to shoot – just to help throw snow and such but I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots.

so serious but oh so cute!

I will miss this little gal and her mama as they just moved away – looks like some road trips will be in order soon 🙂

1. My little guy turned two and a half yesterday! I can hardly believe how fast it has gone – he brings so much joy to our lives every day
2. Facebook friends turned real life friends 🙂
3. My new camera baby arrived today – for the first time in my career I will not be bummed to use my backup body since it’s now the same as my main body!
4. Showed up at my parent’s to pick up my package just as my dad was finishing dinner – great timing if I do say so myself 🙂
5. Completely booked for Jan and only a few slots left for February – a solid start for my first year as a full-time photographer!

I just loved this sunset beachy session – had a hard time picking just a few favorites to share – I loved nearly every shot!

3. Already completely booked for January except for two weekday slots – starting off the year with a bang!

Goodbye portrait season 2012!

I finished up holiday portrait season about two weeks ago – the blog has been silent more by choice than necessity since then. I found it extremely difficult to get into the holiday spirit this year – it was a portrait season full of illness, rain and an injury so I was already feeling overwhelmed and then the shooting in Newtown happened and it just kind of knocked my socks off – so hard to get excited about shopping and presents when there are 27 families in Newtown that have just buried their babies. My heart has just been so heavy since I heard the news.

I am participating in The Olivia Act – it was inspired by one of the victims of the Newtown shooting that had just had family portraits taken and it’s purpose is to provide photo memories to a family that may not otherwise be able to afford a portrait session. I am excepting nominations through Dec 31st – if you know a family that is deserving of this gift please email me at info@kapturedbykristenphotography.com with their name and contact info and a little about why you are nominating them – I will select a family on Jan 1st and they will be contacted to schedule their session. Please contact me with any questions and please keep the families of the victims in your prayers.

I do want to go back and post some of my holiday sessions – since I did just over 60 holiday sessions and minis they won’t all make the blog – especially since I’ll be back up and shooting in another week but I will do my best to get as many up as possible 🙂 I spent an afternoon with these two handsome brothers (and their parents) at the beach – you could tell they were close from their interaction with each other – here are a few of my favorites.
